Requirements of the Program


Following are the requirements for students participating in the program:

1. For all categories of engaged learning that are graded, students must earn a B or above or a P if graded for P/F credit.

2. A 2-3 page reflection on the experience, exploring it as a genuine 'learning experience' and taking into account how it affected the student's academic development, personal growth, and professional development is required for EACH CATEGORY of engaged learning. The document is to be double spaced, using a 12 pt font with 1-1/2 inch top margin, 1 inch bottom margin with 1 inch side margins.

3. All components have either an instructor/course evaluator (who submits a grade) or faculty/staff advisor (who verifies satisfaction of the contract).

5. The Engaged Scholars Director and Council coordinate and implement the program expectations.

6. Zero Credit Seminar: Students will register for a 0 credit seminar each semester they are a participant in the Engaged Scholars Program. The seminar will meet at least twice a semester with the Engaged Scholars Director who oversees students' progress. The seminar could include a WebCT component, guest speakers, informal conversation, and perhaps group presentations and reflection.
