Crime Prevention Unit
Crime Prevention Mission
Our mission at the Belmont University’s Office of Campus Security/Crime Prevention Unit is to improve the quality of life on our campus by maintaining a high level of visibility, preventing crime and enforcing campus rules and regulations. The Crime Prevention Unit has the primary responsibility for developing and maintaining programs designed to reduce crime through the education and heightened awareness of our students, faculty, and staff. Belmont Security Officers cannot control crime without campus wide support and involvement. We strive to encourage each individual on campus to get involved and we welcome your request for any program or service offered by the Crime Prevention Unit.
The Office of Campus Security works to develop and promote positive community relations and interaction through proactive security techniques.

Every Security Officer is trained to respond to any emergency situation, whether medical, criminal, or natural. Should an emergency arise on campus, we ask that you call Belmont Security immediately. Once an emergency call is received by our office, we call metro emergency or non-emergency, depending on the need. One officer reports to the scene to offer aid and/or assistance until the appropriate emergency vehicle (police, ambulance, fire) arrive. Another officer reports to a predetermined location to meet the emergency vehicle and to escort them to the location of the incident. When metro receives a call for service, they may not know where to find the specific location on campus. Our procedures help to expedite services.
These procedures DO NOT prohibit others from calling metro if they choose.
We simply ask that you also give us a call.
