Why did you choose Belmont?
First and foremost, my family lives in Nashville. Nashville has always been like a second home for me from Washington D.C., but my parents grew up here. My cousin also graduation from Belmont, and I had always heard so man good things about it and decided to apply here.
What are you involved in on campus?
I started off with the Psychology Club and the Black Student Association (BSA). Now, I’m involved as I change my major to political science in more of that stuff; The James Madison Society. I’ll hopefully get involved with the Model United Nations, which is new here on campus.
What’s been most beneficial to you as a student at Belmont?
What has the relationship been like between you and your professors?
Teachers are very aware of what you are doing and how well you are doing in your classes and I can get rid of some of my nerves while I’m talking and I don’t have to worry about anything like that.
What are your plans for after graduation?
After graduation, I definitely want to focus on public policy and organizing. I would love to go to graduate school for public policy and perhaps law school for civil and human rights.
What are some of the groups you have worked with while a student at Belmont?
I worked with the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, and I was the coordinator for the Black Women’s Round Table, which is one branch of the organization. It’s a nonprofit, based in D.C. Basically, the group’s purpose is to serve as a communication tool between the White House and the black community. I got an experience I never thought I would have going in.
