DARS FAQ's

What is DARS?

DARS is an acronym for a program called the Degree Audit Reporting System. It is a computerized, personalized analysis of your progress toward a specific degree. A DARS report shows all the requirements needed to receive a degree and which transfer and home courses have been used to satisfy those requirements.

How do I get a DARS report?

You may access and print DARS reports by entering your secure BIC log in and selecting BannerWeb. A step by step overview of running the report is provided below:

  • Log into your BIC account
  • Select 'BannerWeb'
  • Select 'Student Services'
  • Select 'Student Records and Account Information'
  • Select 'DARS - Degree Audit Reporting System' from the menu
  • Select on 'Submit Audit'
  • Select desired options(recommend default: 'latest (all)' and 'list all requirements'
  • Select 'Run Audit'
  • Select 'View Submitted Audits' [this may take a minute]
  • Select 'Refresh' if you do not see the degree audit report
  • Select your audit

How does DARS work?

The DARS audit 'reads' all courses completed or accepted in transfer at Belmont and shows how those courses have been applied toward your your chosen degree, major and minor according to the catalog requirements for the year in which you entered Belmont. The report can be viewed online or printed out to be used as a snapshot of where you stand relative to graduation requirements.

What do I do if I believe that DARS is not applying a course(s) correctly to my degree program?

You should first contact your academic advisor to discuss the application of your courses toward your degree requirements. Courses not directly applied by the DARS system to your degree requirements can be seen at the end of every report under the heading of 'courses not applying toward any other requirement.'

Do I still need to see an advisor?

YES! Your academic advisor will use the DARS report in the process of advising you about your program. An advisor can answer questions you may have and advise you about your course substitutions and waivers that may be needed. Also, your advisor will lift your advising hold (which is mandatory prior to registration).

When should I contact the DARS office?

If you get an error message when running a degree audit or the audit simply does not appear when you try to run your report, you should E-mail the DARS office. The DARS contact E-mail is listed below; or, you can click on the 'Questions or problems with DARS?' link at the top of this page.
